Rat Tumor Cells
In vitro research pertaining to neuro-oncology, and vascular oncology is in continued demand of various animal models, in order to assess the efficacy of ongoing technological innovations. Out of many such experimental models, the rat models are widely used, due to their easy availability, short reproduction cycle, and similarity to human models in terms of molecular metabolism and pharmacokinetic properties. Apart from the same, there has been more extensive literature available on both in vitro as well as in vivo studies, which can give us a better idea about diagnostic modalities. They are also preferred
over other models because they allow tumor volumes 10-fold higher in comparison to others, and hence are easier to study. Moreover, the rats can accommodate multiple blood samplings, while drug screening is done in order to determine the pharmacokinetic properties of a drug.
