While dermal endothelial cells perform the function of endothelial cells elsewhere in the body they have certain skin specific functions including wound healing, temperature regulation, immunomodulatio etc. they play an important role in bioengineering of skin, studying normal and diseased skin physiology and screening of drugs, especially cosmetics.
