Isolated from the spleen, these cells have MSC like charactersitcs. In the spleen they are repsonsible for the creation of a non-rigid extracellular matrix. They also contribute to growth of NK cells and bioactive IL-15. They can be used in various studies involving cell manipulations such as genetic transfers. They are also used for IVD and drug screening purposes.
