Description
Natural Killer Cells commonly referred to as NK Cells are a type of innate lymphocyte which aid the immune system by killing virally infected cells and controlling signs of tumours. They are isolated form the Umblical Cord blood and currently research is ongoing to see their role in fighting diseases such as cancer. They are isolated from a pool of mononuclear cells with the help of negative selection using immunomagnetic cell separation techniques. Researchers are studying ways to inhibit these cells to reduce transplant rejection and failure during IVF.
