Isolated from the epithelieal layer of the corneal limbus, these cells are responsile for maintaing an extracellular matrix. They also regulate the proliferation of corneal epitheliel cells. This makes them crucial for studying the progression of various eye diseases, as well as toxicity analysis and drug discovery porccesses.
