Human umbilical cord derived endothelial cells are isolated from the inner lining of the umbilical cord vein that is obtained from healthy donors. The cells are notably known for their angiogenic properties, crucial for the formation of new blood vessels. The unique property is making them highly sought-after in various in-vitro research applications, including 3D culture, scaffold development and other cosmetic studies.Due to their delicate nature in maintaining in vitro morphology, these cells are shipped in a proliferating format during the early stages of development to ensure their viability and optimal conditions. All cells are tested negative for bacterial, fungal contamination and even mycoplasma contamination. For endothelial cells, Kosheeka has developed specific media and growth factor mix for optimal cell viability and doubling time. Simultaneously, it is very crucial to handle these cells with appropriate care, ensuring optimum culture conditions, specific growth media, as they can be prone to loss during media changes if not handled appropriately.

Absolutely, using suitable extraction methods and quality kits, you can directly extract RNA/DNA from cultured endothelial cells and use it for further genomic applications.

Upon receipt of a flask or vial from Kosheeka, we recommend following these steps. Flask Handling:

Wipe the flask cap with 70% alcohol and inspect the cell morphology and other signs of contamination under the microscope.

Vial Handling:

Refer to the cell revival protocol, provided with the product inserts for vial handling.
Immediately perform a cell count, upon receiving the vial and seed cells into multiple flasks as per recommended seeding density.

At Kosheeka, our standardized protocol for cryopreservation of umbilical cord-derived endothelial cells involves using serum containing 1% Trehalose and 10% DMSO. This method ensures that cell viability is maintained for up to 1 year, without undergoing repeated freeze-thaw cycles. However, you have the option of using your own standardized method for cryopreserving these cells, albeit with associated risk.

Usually, we ship cells at their early passage like P1 and P2. However, we can accommodate specific passage level requests, based on client’s requirements.

We have standardized expansion of human umbilical cord derived endothelial cells using our proprietary media and growth mix to optimize cell doubling time. We highly recommend maintaining the same culture conditions for maximizing their expansion capacity, as these cells are notably sensitive to environmental and handling changes.

We advise against using trypsin or any other traditional dissociating media for passaging human umbilical cord-derived endothelial cells. Through our standardized processes, we have observed that using a cell scraper is a more effective option. It helps minimize the loss of cellular receptacles during passage, further ensuring cellular loss.
